Mental Health

Our Time

It is important to take care of yourself – whether you are recovering from a mental illness or supporting someone who is.

Our Time provides the opportunity to plan a break and activities that everyone can look forward to. The options are flexible and we work with you to create a plan that meets the needs of all involved.

Who is it for?

Our Time is for people supporting a friend or family member who has a mental illness. A key element of Our Time is supporting people with a mental illness to explore a new activity or interest as part of their recovery plan.

What does the service provide?

Our Time looks different for everyone because it is individually planned to best suit your needs.
There are a range of options including:

  • Recreational and community activities
  • At home: practical support to encourage independence
  • Centre-based: 24 hour, 7 day a week support

Where is it?

Our Time at-home and recreational and community activities are available across Tasmania
Centre based support is available in Devonport in the north west. Arrangements in other locations can also be made as needed.

"We would never have gone on our holiday without knowing there was someone to call in. Our brother met and liked the staff person. We were nervous, but there was a plan and it all went well…we never really dreamed that our brother would start playing his guitar again, but he has and next week is going to a music group.”
