Anglicare recently received two generous donations which will support young Tasmanians in need.

Timeless Elegance, a bridal and formal wear boutique in Launceston, donated 30 evening gowns to Anglicare. These will be loaned to clients who require a dress for a special event. “We wanted to ensure that no young women missed out on attending a school leavers’ dinner because they couldn’t afford an outfit,” said Louise Scott of Timeless Elegance.

Meanwhile, the crew of a visiting tanker Alexander Spirit donated $1000 to Youthcare, Anglicare’s crisis accommodation for young men aged 13-21 years.

The members of the Maritime Union had accrued the money through safety performance bonuses. “The ship’s crew told me that they wanted to make a positive different for young people in Tasmania, a place that the tanker visits regularly,” said Anglicare’s Rafael Patterson. “It is nice for the boys to know that there are people out there thinking of them, who want to help out and who don’t expect anything in return”.

The gift will enable Youthcare to purchase some recreational equipment for use by young people staying at the shelter.
