The financial counselling service is a confidential service that provides information and support to anyone experiencing financial difficulty.

It can help you to organise your budget, suggest ways to manage your debt and refer you to other useful services.

How can this service help?

It can provide you with information about:

  • negotiating with creditors
  • consumer rights and responsibilities
  • accessing your superannuation
  • bankruptcy and its alternatives
  • referral to legal services if appropriate
  • managing money, including budget strategies

Who is this service for?

Any individual or family experiencing financial difficulty.

Cost?

This is a free service.

Locations

Financial counselling is available in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie. We also offer outreach to Bridgewater, Eastlands, Huonville, Cygnet, Sorell, Rokeby, Georgetown, Scottsdale, Deloraine, West Tamar, St Marys, St Helens, Smithton and in Tasmanian prisons.
