Snapshot #76 August 2010 - Teaching from life experience In February 2005, David King had a motorcycle accident from which he is still recovering. His injuries were extensive and included multiple fractures and an Acquired Brain Injury. David recently shared his story with Anglicare’s newest disability support workers as part of their training.   Snapshot #76 August 2010 - Alcohol and other Drug Services Anglicare has appointed a State Manager of Alcohol and Other Drug Services. New manager, Tamara Speed, says effective programs are holistic and responsive. “Too often in this sector there has been a top-down approach,” she said. “This results in talking down to people and a failure to engage with diverse communities and respond to them”.   Snapshot #76 August 2010 - Sharing the savings Anglicare has committed to significantly reduce its carbon footprint. Some of the savings made by cutting back electricity consumption will be earmarked for the purchase of a solar hot water system at a shared home for people with disabilities.
