COMPASS provides safe mentoring support to young people for all sorts of reasons. The young person might be struggling with school, having difficulty fitting in socially, having trouble dealing with conflict, or even at risk of homelessness.
COMPASS aims to provide positive role models, and create a safe and accepting environment where the young person feels they belong. Mentoring with COMPASS can be traditional (1 adult to 1 young person) or in a small group setting with two adults. Peer mentoring is also available. Mentoring sessions may include a range of activities that support the young person to work towards developing skills they wish to enhance. These could include activities such as car-tuning, music lessons, First Aid, or cooking or any activity within COMPASS guidelines which will provide opportunities for a young person to discover their unique strengths and build self-esteem. Mentoring is not a solution for all of the problems facing young people; however, it provides a sustained positive relationship.
