Family Relationships Counselling can help:

• couples experiencing relationship problems, including couples considering separation
• partners or children coming to terms with family breakdown
• partners or children adjusting to step families
• children affected by their parents’ relationship problems
• people finding it hard to adjust after the end of a relationship
• individuals, couples or families

Is there a cost? Family Relationships Counselling is free for people with a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card. Costs to other people are means tested.

Family Relationships Counselling is funded by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Family Relationships Counselling is available in the south.

What can counselling do for me?

It can help you explore the problems you are having in a safe environment, and find ways to overcome patterns of behaviour or communication that is hurting your relationship.

If you are part of a couple, you can attend with your partner, or by yourself if they don't want to come.

What does a counsellor do?

A counsellor will listen to you with understanding. They have skills that can help you bring about change. They will not judge you or tell you what to do, but work with you to find a solution that works for you.
