The 2007 annual Social Justice lecture was delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, Tom Calma. In a thought-provoking lecture Commissioner Calma spoke about the 1967 referendum which demanded equality and fair treatment for Indigenous Australians and its legacy. Commissioner Calma also talks about the Australian Government's new emergency response measures in the Northern Territory.

In October 2006, the first lecture in the new ‘Talking Social Justice’ series was held in Launceston. It featured Emeritus Professor Jim Ife speaking on ‘Poverty, Community and Human Rights’. Professor Ife explored the ways in which social work and human rights discourses have failed to adequately address poverty and inequality, and outlined new ways to move forward.

The 2005 Lecture was delivered by the Hon. Alastair Nicholson, former Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia. In a powerful and passionate essay, he explores the nature of justice under the current Government, looking at examples such as the mandatory and unlimited detention of asylum seekers, the provisions of Australia's new security legislation and the limited access to justice of people who are facing the disadvantages of poverty, illness, or the prejudices of age, gender, sexuality or race.
