Community Services Worker


Fixed-term, full-time
position until 30 June 2020, based in Launceston

Anglicare Tasmania is a non-profit
organisation providing a wide range of community services to the
people of Tasmania. We are part of the national Anglicare Australia
network of organisations. Anglicare advocates for social justice
and aids people in times of need. We provide programs relating to
health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support
and more.

An exciting opportunity is
available for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join a team
of dedicated professionals who provide exceptional community
support services to people accessing our range of services in the
areas of mental, NDIS coordination of support, housing support,
community education, and therapeutic parenting skills.

This position will be predominantly
working in the Family Advocacy and Support Service and to be
successful you will need to have had experience in the area of
family violence, as well as have the ability to work with either
the person who is affected by family violence or those who have
allegations of family violence against them.

The successful applicant will:

  • Facilitate assessment and planning processes with people
    accessing our services by identifying their personal barriers
    and support needs to develop meaningful ways to overcome those
  • In collaboration with people accessing our services,
    develop a service plan to guide the intentional support to be
    provided, provide regular intentional support based on service
    plan and identified support needs, review service plans and
    support needs regularly and revise plan accordingly.
  • Possess the skills to work collaboratively with duty
    lawyers and the ability to be self-directed.
  • Provide support and information for people facing various
    life adversities, including, but not limited to; mental
    wellbeing, housing, alcohol and other drug issues, financial
    hardship, training and skills development, family relationships
    and parenting skills
  • Have excellent client management skills including the
    ability to work with clients in a trauma informed
  • Have a tertiary degree in Social Work, Social Science,
    Psychology or a related field.

To be considered for the position,

The successful applicant will be
required to have a Tasmania Police Schedule 1 National Police
Certificate (no older than 12 months and not an annulled record),
current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment
category) as well as undertake a pre-employment medical prior to
commencement. On commencement the successful person will be
required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training
