Fixed-term,
full-time position (12 months) based in Burnie

Anglicare Tasmania is a
non-profit organisation providing a wide range of community
services to the people of Tasmania. We are part of the national
Anglicare Australia network of organisations. Anglicare advocates
for social justice and aids people in times of need. We provide
programs relating to health, housing, families, drug and alcohol
treatment and support and more.

The Assessment Worker is
responsible for ensuring that collaborative, high quality, client
focused assessment services are provided by the regional Housing
Connect service. This role undertakes comprehensive assessments of
people’s housing and associated needs, ensuring appropriate
support services are engaged and/or supported referrals are
provided.

To be successful in this
position you will need knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues
relating to homelessness such as; poverty, unemployment, health,
family violence, substance use and other social factors which
impact on vulnerable or at risk people as well as up-to-date
knowledge of the private rental market, Residential Tenancy Act,
local housing sector, national housing and homelessness policy
framework and relevant privacy legislation.

You will also need a good
understanding of concepts of social justice, social inclusion and
empowerment and their application to practice as well as high level
assessment skills of people in need and the ability to ascertain
the required level of support needed to establish and/or sustain
long term housing.

The successful applicant
will be required to:

  • have a
    Tasmania Police Schedule 1 National Police Certificate (no
    older than 12 months and not an annulled
    record);
  • provide
    an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months
    or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
  • have a
    current Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment
    category);
  • undertake a satisfactory
    Anglicare assessed medical

On commencement the
successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured
Safeguarding Children Training program.
