Mothering project

This is a partnership project between the New Story Company,  Anglicare Tasmania, and women with lived experience of the Tasmanian Child Safety System.

The partnership wants to help improve the experiences of parents who have their children removed by the Child Safety System.

The group will share stories about their experiences to develop, write and produce a new work of theatre, film or other artistic expression.

This is an innovative approach to raising awareness about this important issue.

Teresa Hinton from Anglicare’s Social Action Research Centre will contribute her knowledge and expertise from undertaking research in this area. She will:

• assist with recruiting mothers and grandmothers into the partnership
• conduct a small-scale evaluation of the work
• write a final report about the project and its outcomes.

The Mothering project is supported by funding from Arts Tasmania and will begin in March 2022 for a 6-month period.
