A positive contribution
October 8, 2026
Jamie Quach is a candidate in the City of Launceston’s upcoming Council elections.
Jamie has been a client of Anglicare’s Acquired Injury Support Services since 2009, after becoming a C5/C6 quadriplegic as the result of a motor vehicle accident the previous year.
He says joining Council will enable him to make a positive contribution to the community.
“I’ve lived in Launceston my whole life and there are many people here that I care about,” he said. “Living with a disability gives me a practical understanding of issues that matter to people, like mobility for example, not just for people with a disability, but for elderly people as well.”
Jamie said his days are very structured as a result of the physical limitations he lives with, and he would bring this experience to Council.
“My daily life needs to be planned in advance. This includes coordinating a roster of support workers. It’s given me strong organisational skills,” he explained.
Jamie lists the following key focus areas for his campaign:
- supporting local businesses and helping create a strong and thriving local community
- greater transparency around ratepayers’ money, with a focus on ensuring the community can understand how council funds are being used
- making Launceston community events more accessible for people living with disability, so everyone has the opportunity to participate and enjoy what the community has to offer
- supporting people in the community who are doing it tough, including exploring ways Council can support local organisations and help improve food security for people experiencing hardship.
Jamie is an active community member with a broad range of interests, including keeping fit with three gym sessions a week, eating out at local restaurants, going to the beach and the movies, playing games and hanging out with friends on the weekend.
Everyone at Anglicare wishes Jamie well with his campaign.
