From Patron Care to Consumer Protection: Poker Machines in Tasmania

This paper argues that the Government needs to move away from a narrow focus on referral and treatment of the ‘problem gambler’ to a broader mandate focused on ensuring, promoting and providing ‘safe gambling’ for all customers. Broader strategies are needed to minimise harm and reduce the number of people developing gambling problems.
