Submission to Australian Government discussion paper on the regulation and growth of the not-for-profit housing sector

Social Action and Research Centre Submission

Anglicare’s response comments on how well the envisaged system would work for low-income earners, people in crisis, vulnerable groups and people with complex needs. We are concerned that the research evidence suggests the system will not work for these groups without the provision of substantial subsidies from government. Furthermore we see alarming hints that protection and support for tenant is not the main objective of the proposed system. Anglicare puts forward a set of outcomes for tenants we believe will be essential to make the new system work for disadvantaged tenants.
