Strengthening support for people with co-occurring mental health and alcohol and drug issues

This report examines barriers in accessing care for Tasmanians experiencing co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues.

Research was undertaken by Anglicare Tasmania’s Social Action and Research Centre in 2025, building on findings from the Mind the gap report.

The report calls for the better integration of treatment models that are supported by evidence and national guidelines.

It also recommends that the Tasmanian Government urgently expands access to managed withdrawal treatment, particularly for people in the North and North West of Tasmania.
