The coronavirus situation has made many people more aware of the risks associated with smoking.

At Anglicare we understand how difficult it is to break the smoking habit, and we’re keen to help you prepare to quit.

Quit Tasmania is your one-stop-shop for hints, tips and support.  Click here to visit the website that includes apps you can download, and you can also talk to someone by giving the Quitline a ring on 13 7848.

If you’ve tried quitting before, you might be familiar with the 5D approach:

  • Delay
  • Deep breathing
  • Drink water
  • Do something else
  • Discuss with a friend or colleague or the Quitline.

These are simple strategies that have been proven to work.

We know that these are stressful times and you might be tempted to smoke more than you usually do. You might not succeed the first time, and that’s okay. It’s important not to be too hard on yourself, and to keep trying!

If you or someone you know is affected by addiction to alcohol or any other drugs, the Anglicare Drug and Alcohol Treatment Service  (ADATS) can provide you with the support you need to get your life back on track.

ADATS is staffed by professionals who will work with you to identify the treatment approach that will work best for you.
