The Housing Connect Front Door is Tasmania’s entry point for housing assistance.

It is where you can get information about your housing options and other supports.

Anglicare delivers this service statewide from our offices in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie.

Housing Connect can help you:

to apply for social housing or update your application if your circumstances have changed
to apply for private rental assistance such as bonds and rent arrears
to find a bed for the night, including referral to crisis accommodation
to access supports following family violence, including rapid rehousing
with support and advice on how to keep your tenancy
with referrals to other support services

Applying for Social Housing

Housing Connect is the right place to apply for social housing. You can do this over the phone or in person.

The Housing Connect Front Door does not make decisions about how social housing is allocated to people waiting for a home.

Homes Tasmania manages the Housing Register.

Waiting time for social housing

There are many people in need of social housing in Tasmania. There are not enough social housing properties for all the people who need them. This means it can take a long time for a property to become vacant that would suit your needs.

If you contact Homes Tasmania or other Community Housing Providers, they will not provide you with an estimated wait time.
