The Rental Affordability Snapshot has run annually since 2007, when Anglicare Tasmania first tested
whether it was possible for people on low incomes to afford to rent a home in the private rental market. This year we found just 8% of available properties would have been affordable for households on income support payments. This is 3% less than in 2020. The north of the state in particular has seen a dramatic decline in the number of properties available to rent.
