Blue Collared: The shrinking world of work in Tasmania

newspaper dolls wearing ties

Blue Collared explores the experiences of Tasmanians who have felt the effects of labour market change on a very personal level. Many had casual work that had not led to more permanent employment. Participants spoke about the devastating impacts of unemployment on their own lives and on the lives of their families: the emotional toll, the social isolation and the financial struggle. Participants understood themselves to be blue-collar workers stranded in a market where there was no longer a demand for their skills.
