Youthcare

Youthcare provides short-term support and accommodation for young men aged between 13 and 20 years old. The focus is on addressing the young person’s immediate needs, stabilising any crises, and supporting them to exit into safe, secure accommodation.

Youthcare is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week emergency accommodation located in Moonah, Southern Tasmania.  Young people can self-refer via phone or can be referred by a parent, carer or support worker.

What does Youthcare provide?

Youthcare recognises each person’s capabilities, talents and potential and aims to create opportunities, networks and resources for young men to realise their skills and aspirations.

The young men will have access to Key Development Coaches who provide intensive support to help with the hard problems that can be overwhelming and get in the way of achieving personal goals.

All young men accessing Youthcare have the right to safety, respect, and dignity. They are expected to conduct themselves in a way that does not limit their own or other’s safety, respect and dignity, or their participation towards achieving agreed goals.  Any person accessing Youthcare will be asked to agree to a ‘Deal’ outlining the responsibilities and expectations of both themselves and Youthcare.
